The example fleet vehicle now protected with the "Dashcam Defense": 2004 Ford F450 tow truck. The VT-300 provides this business owner with real-time GPS location of their vehicles, the ability to view live video directly from any camera on the tow trucks, detailed telematics reports, and more.

Looking in from outside of the front windshield, we catch our first glimpse of the VT-300 main camera module, and the forward-facing camera lens. We can see the relatively small footprint of the VT-300 on the tow truck windshield. The VT-300's GPS antenna is integrated in the camera cradle that attaches directly to the front windshield.

From outside of the passenger side of the F450, we see that the subtle design and muted colors of the VT-300 help to ensure that this is a discreet but comprehensive audio and video recording system.

Now looking in to the Ford F450 from the passenger side door, we see the front unit of the VT-300 more clearly. The inside-facing lens (for recording the driver/occupants of the truck) is all but invisible, even though there are 4 small infrared LED lights surrounding the lens. These IR LEDs enable "night vision" recording inside the cab, for a clear picture of what's going on inside the vehicle, even in the pitch black of night.

The cords plugged in to the VT-300 in this example are (from left to right): power input, GPS antenna input, 3rd camera input. Also shown is the tiny WiFi dongle attached to the USB port, which enables automatic data offload when the truck returns to the depot, as well as full remote connectivity. Note: remote access does require a mobile WiFi hotspot signal be available in the vehicle.

A simple tamper-proof cover is provided with every VT-300 dashcam system, however, the cover is not shown in these photos. The tamper-proof cover prevents the cables from being unplugged, prevents the memory card(s) from being removed, and it also keeps the front and inside-facing lenses locked in their current position, so that a driver cannot point the camera lenses in any other direction.

Moving to the rear of the commercial fleet tow truck, we see the third camera lens of the VT-300 dashcam system. There are several options available for the 3rd camera lens of the VT-300, including interior/cargo-facing lenses, vandal-proof domes, and more. In this case we have installed the waterproof, externally-mounted version, with infrared LEDs.

The rear-facing waterproof lens (with night vision) will record all activity behind the tow truck, including vehicle hook-ups and drop-offs. For this business owner, customer allegations of damage to their vehicle was a major concern, and using this fleet dashcam system will prove (or perhaps more importantly disprove) if any damage was actually done by the tow truck driver.
