In this dashcam installation photo gallery, we go over the final product of hardwiring the new dual-lens, dual 1080p full HD BlackVue DR490-2CH in a 2002 Toyota Tacoma.

The vehicle now protected with the "Dashcam Defense": 2002 Toyota Tacoma. We're fans of the quality and reliability that the BlackVue brand brings to its dashcams, and we were stoked to perform our first install of the DR490-2CH / DR590-2CH / DR590W-2CH on this Tacoma.
Looking in through the front windshield at the front camera of the BlackVue DR490-2CH / DR590-2CH / DR590W-2CH dashcam setup, we can see how inconspicuous the front camera is. The sleek and small camera body disguises itself behind the rear-view mirror.
Let's take a closer look at the driver's side of this Tacoma truck.
Looking out of the front windshield from the driver's perspective, you can see that the front camera of the BlackVue DR490-2CH / DR590-2CH / DR590W-2CH is completely hidden from the driver.
With a high-end, discreet dashcam like this BlackVue, you don't need to worry about your dashcam blocking your view.
Now, let's make our way around the vehicle to the passenger's side.
From this angle, we can see the DR490-2CH / DR590-2CH / DR590W-2CH front camera and cabling (power and video from rear camera).
Notice how our skilled technicians cleanly hide the wiring to the BlackVue dashcam as much as possible.
If you want to record GPS data like speed logging and your vehicle's GPS position, the new DR490-2CH / DR590-2CH / DR590W-2CH requires a GPS antenna. Simply plug in the GPS antenna to the front camera module, and you can have proof of your vehicle's speed and location at all times.
Like all features of the BlackVue DR490-2CH / DR590-2CH / DR590W-2CH , the optional GPS antenna is low-profile and barely noticeable once installed.
Let's make our way to the truck bed of this Tacoma to see the rear 1080p dashcam.
Looking at the rear windshield glass of the Tacoma, it's nearly impossible to spot the rear-facing camera lens.
From these angles, we can just barely make out the BlackVue's blue light, alerting the driver and any passerby the this vehicle is under surveillance thanks to a two-channel dashcam.
Peeking inside the cabin of the truck and looking out the back windshield, you can get a better idea of the placement of the rear camera unit. A professional dashcam installation will give your dashcam setup a clean look. There are no dangling wires or cords to obscure your line of vision while you drive.
Last but not least, let's go over the final piece of this BlackVue DR490-2CH / DR590-2CH / DR590W-2CH dashcam installation: the Power Magic Pro battery discharge prevention device. This dashcam power accessory allows you to connect your BlackVue dashcam directly to your vehicle's electrical system. This will free up your cigarette lighter outlet and enables you to power the dashcam while your car is parked and the engine is turned off, AKA Parking Mode. For this dashcam installation, we placed the Power Magic Pro in the glove box to be out of sight but not out of reach.
For this installation, The Dashcam Store™ technicians used plug-and-play add-a-circuit fuse taps to connect the Power Magic Pro to the fuse box. We get a lot of questions about tapping into the fuse box, and we assure you that the fuse taps are absolutely non-invasive. Installing a dashcam in your vehicle does not alter or damage any of your vehicle's wiring, which means that your factory warranty remains fully intact. This type of dashcam installation is 100% reversible, and leaves no trace if you choose to remove the dashcam from your vehicle in the future.
