The Garmin Dash Cam 20 is the newest in Garmin's line of windshield-mounted in-car video recording devices. Fans of the Dash Cam 10 (non-GPS version) will really enjoy the new model. With GPS and Collision Detection this dashcam is a must see.
The Garmin Dash Cam 20 is a simple, reliable upgrade from the previous model: the Dash Cam 10. What makes this newer model so special is the addition of a built-in GPS that tracks speed and position so you always know the details if you happen to get into a collision.
The Dash Cam 20 sports a bright 2.3" LCD display so you can clearly see footage as it happens or review it on the scene. The high definition, wide angle lens records full 1080p video to see every detail of an incident. The Dash Cam 20 also records in 720p and WVGA formats for those looking to extend recording times before looping over on the memory card. The camera comes equipped with a 4GB microSD card from Garmin but the memory card is upgradable up to a larger 8, 16, or 32GB memory card to store more video footage.
The 120° wide angle lens makes your dash cam's point of view astoundingly large, so that you won't miss any details. The kicker with the Dash Cam 20 is the Incident Detection (G-sensor). With this feature you have the ability to automatically save the previous, most recent and following recordings in the event of a collision or incident. In addition, the Dash Cam 20 records audio with an integrated microphone. This camera also never stops recording! Once it's plugged in, that's it. Bam. Every recording is also stamped with the time, date, latitude, longitude, speed and direction.
The Dash Cam 20 can also be used as a still-camera to take high quality snapshots of vehicle or property damage. Garmin really figured out how to make one of the best dash cams out there. The camera weighs only 121 grams (about 4 ounces) and is 8cm (a little more than 3") wide so it can fit practically anywhere on your windshield, all the while leaving your sightline unobstructed. The Garmin 20 has a relatively large built-in battery that can power the dashcam for up to an hour without being plugged in, which is excellent for documenting the scene of an accident or damage to your vehicle after the fact.
One of our favorite things about the Dash Cam 20 is the automatic, accurate detailing of the time, date and location of a collision. That feature alone is worth it to save so much painstaking work after an accident. Furthermore, the ability to be used as a still photo camera for vehicle damage is priceless. If you have this dashcam and are involved in an incident, you'll be able to portray your side of the incident easily and effectively.
Note: This model includes a 4GB memory card pre-installed by Garmin inside the dash cam. You may choose to include a larger memory card by selecting a 16 or 32gb card from our microSD memory cards page. The included 4GB memory card will hold approximately: 48 minutes @ the highest 1080p resolution; 2.2 hours @ 720p or 4.8 hours in VGA mode. With a 32GB card, you'll be able to store around 384 minutes (6.4 hours) of video @ 1080p, 17.6 hours @ 720p or 38.4 hours in VGA mode.
